Rising Action
A downloadable game
Rising Action is a roleplaying game for two players where you play a pair of rivals having an ever-escalating battle where their past and passions collide. Inspired by action anime and JRPG cutscenes, it is designed to produce dramatic encounters that can be played in 1-2 hours from character creation to the end of the fight. Rising Action features a game of battle of wits played with a deck of playing cards that frames the scene and prompts players to incorporate exciting imagery and emotion into their description.
Rising Action also includes:
- A quick world building and character creation procedure
- Two prewritten scenarios and pairs of characters to jump straight into
- Prompts to inspire characters, locations and situations primed for a bout

Fantastic game!! I'm looking at using it in my current Fabula Ultima campaign for any one on one Dramatic duels that might come up. I was wondering if you had any suggestions for ways to implement the latter round mechanics online?
Hey thank you so much, i'm glad you like it!! Using it in a Fabula Ultima campaign is such a cool use case I'd love to hear about how it goes!
As for online implementation, I usually use playingcards dot io as that's the best (and free) way to do cards online that i know of. I've not done any automation for it though, so usually when the threshold is crossed the players will just manually select and exchange cards. Hope this helps!
Excited to read through but skimming through the mechanic its all very exciting!!!
